This is just a quick posting to congratulate Gateshead events team on the great work they are doing. I have been to a few events recently as part of the radio project and to take photographs and they are well organised and welcoming. The thing that makes them enjoyable, or should the be dose not make then unenjoyable, is the way everyone is welcoming and helpful without the power of the hi-vis jacket going to there head. It sounds daft, but it makes all the difference.
No, seriously, today's change in VAT form 17.5% to 15% completely recked my lye in this morning. I was in a Hotel in Sheffield and there computer could not cope with the change. What they had to do was to check everyone out and then after the change check them back in again.
At first this may seem a simple all be it time consuming solution, but it had a bit of a unforeseen problem. When a customer is checked in the TV is switched on in the room with a welcome message. As a result they did not check everyone back in instantly, but because of this they got a little confused and checked someone in to our room by mistake. So in fact were were woken by someone trying to get in to our room who, obviously thought it was there room.
Everyone was apologetic and were were given a discount, but as a result VAT recked our lye in.
A weekly vacuum sounds reasonable but please can we obtain a decent vacuum cleaner (Dyson or some such) as the cheap old one was not suitable for people with asthma/allergies.
We have one of these already. All we need is one of these and a supply of these and you will be one of these!
* This might not be true, we have never tested it with a real plain.
